Kalmia angustifolia - Sheep Laurel from Quackin Grass Nursery

Kalmia angustifolia – Pretty pink, rounded corymbs are comprised of cupped florets open in late June. Blue-green matte finish leave set oppositely whorl up the stems to the flowering event. This shrub will colonize but slowly over the course of time. Wood with age becomes gnarly and twisted providing often ignored interest. This characteristic would make a long term Bonsai effort worthwhile. Evergreen. Good naturalizer for the woodland garden in acid, moist soil in dappled to morning sun. Best kept out of hot afternoon exposures or leaves will burn. This is a poisonous plant which accounts for another common name: Lambkill Kalmia. We've had trouble pinning down the actual USDA hardiness range of this plant but suffice it to say it is hardy to at least minus 30F and likely colder. Established potted shrub, cutting grown.
