Andromeda glaucophylla 'Nana' – ​This a most handsome ericaceous evergreen with recurved narrow leathery dark gray-green leaves and pretty fat urn-shaped flowers, milk white and often flushed with pink in spring. Ours has never achieved the 18-inch height as is purportedly possible. Ours also acquires a bronze to purple-bronze winter coloration. And though it often burns a bit in winter in our gardens (and we attribute this to its siting) it recovers quickly in the spring. This is very similar to Bog Rosemary, Andromeda polifolia, with the main difference being that the flowers occur on shorter pedicels and its native range is entirely New World; otherwise the cultural requirements are as exacting: acid, peaty, sandy moisture retaining soil with a Ph of 4.5 to 5, planted in full sun to part shade. Resenting heat pockets site Bog Rosemary in cooler locations. Cutting grown.
