Aster alpinus 'Dark Beauty'

Alpine Aster

Plant Type:

SUN PERENNIALS

Aster alpinus 'Dark Beauty' - Each 2-inch daisy-like flower sports dark purple petals encircling a sunny yellow disc. Alpine Aster is perfect in the rock garden or front-of-the-border edging in average to somewhat impoverished soil sited in near to full sun. Ours was perennial for many years placed on the north side of a boulder in our raised rockery until it finally left us... it left us sad! We looked forward to its return annually. It seemed to appreciate the cooler ground on the north side of the boulder. 'Dark Beauty' is a charmer demanding your attention with its rich, deep purple shade. The species is native to the mountains of Europe, the Alps and the Pyrenees; from where the selection 'Dark Beauty' arose we do not know. Pot grown from division.
