Of variable growth, deciduous or semi-evergreen, this tough suckering shrub will be taller with faster colonization in better soil and full sun forming a great barrier or screen. Persistent grayish-white chalky berries on female shrubs are very well-known as a wonderful fragrance used in candle making. If you desire fruit a male Bayberry must be present for pollination.
