Helleborus niger 'Thanksgiving'

Christmas Rose

Plant Type:

SHADE PERENNIALS

Helleborus niger 'Thanksgiving' (ex: Louis Raymond) - This lovely Christmas Rose hearkens the traditional start of the Christmas season as it flowers at or about Thanksgiving when the days grow shorter and colder diminishing to the inevitable winter solstice. The white flowers glow at this time over handsome evergreen leaves. Open to dappled shade in sweet, bony and fertile ground. This may better prove its November flowering cred in the warmer climes of its hardiness range but a mild autumn in the north may provide the necessary fuel. However, it is no less than Ellen Hornig (form. Seneca Hill Perennials) who introduced this fine selection... if Ellen says 'Thanksgiving' then Thanksgiving it is. Tell us your experience...
