Pineapple Lily
Plant Type:
BULBSEucomis autumnalis 'Wahroaneta Giant' (ex: Louis Raymond) - This is a monstrous Pineapple Lily with broadly ruffled cupped sword-shaped lances snaking from the central axis in rosette fashion. These can reach 4 feet in height and breadth. Thick, fleshy flower stems support the inflorescence that can attain 6 feet with florets a soft greenish-yellow. The tufted crest at the top of the inflorescence provides the pineapple resemblance. A way-cool plant in a pot or in the ground. Fertile, draining soil. Mulch at the northern extremes if planted outdoors. Keep much drier while dormant in winter if potted; an easy plant to store in the basement or greenhouse. Potted grown-out offset, flowering size.
