Caltha palustris 'Flore-pleno'

Double Marsh Marigold

Plant Type:

POND & WETLAND PLANTS

Caltha palsutris 'Flore-pleno' - Pretty double yellow flowers aplenty composed of satin-finished yellow petals on a bob brighten banks and islets of rushing brooks in early spring. Double flowering Marsh Marigold loves marshes, rivulets and bogs but is no marigold... not even close. Glossy, rounded scalloped leaves are happy in dappled to full sun always in wet soils. Caltha palsutris has a broad distribution - Maine, south to North Carolina, Tennessee, stepping up to Iowa, Nebraska, then north through nearly all of Canada with populations extending down into Washington, Oregon and California as well. Constantly damp to wet soils in part to full sun. Foliage may hang on after flowering for the entire season but this interesting perennial may be ephemeral. Established potted plant(s) from division.
