Cyclamen hederifolium "silver/pewter leaves and white flowers" (ex: Seneca Hill) – This is a white flowering strain from Ellen Hornig sporting silver to pewter leaves; some may be touched with a bit of green. Foliage shapes may vary with some more lobed like ivy leaves while others may be typically trowel-shaped. Site in open shade to part sun planted in gritty, well-drained soil to which dolomitic limestone has been added. Certainly shelter or even plant against a foundation in the northern part of the range. Some sources claim that C. hederifolium is hardy to USDA zone 4 but we are not convinced of this... perhaps under the protective blanket of consistent snow cover but not so much in eastern Connecticut where snow cover is variable to non-existent. These do make beautiful potted plants in the cool greenhouse. We will continue to select out only the most silver-leafed progeny. Seed grown corms or from offsets.
