Chloranthus sessilifolius 'Get Shorty'

Sessile Chloranthus

Plant Type:

SHADE PERENNIALS

Chloranthus sessilifolius 'Get Shorty' (ex: Ed Bowen) – The Sessile Chloranthus is a handsome, clumping perennial exhibiting quadrangles of dark green semi-glossy leaves often displaying a bronze to bronze-purple central vein. Young leaves often display quite a bit of purple before settling back to glossy dark green as they expand and mature. Flowers are white and fountain down from the peduncles that erupt from the center point from the terminal set of four leaves. The flowers are almost like short pieces of thick yarn at the top of the purple stalk. When occurring in a grouping quite architecturally showy. A colony will form an attractive, cool, deep woodland feeling – soothing through the hot summer months. This is a woodlander that will likely stump your gardening friends. Site in fertile, draining soil in dappled light to open shade. For gardeners at the northern end of its range spring planting may be wise. Established pot grown plant from cutting.
