Solidago flexicaulis 'Variegata'

Zigzag Goldenrod

Plant Type:

SUN PERENNIALS

Solidago flexicaulis ‘Variegata’ – 1 remaining. This is a seldom offered Zigzag Goldenrod with irregular gold bars and splashing on serrated obovate leaves. Spikes of medium yellow flowers spire up extending from tips of the main stems over the foliage blooming July to late summer in lots of sun. Shorter axillary spikes will also occur. Plant Solidago flexicaulis ‘Variegata’ in sun to part shade. We’ve grown it for years and it has not self-sown here… we don’t find it weedy as Zigzag Goldenrod does not run; rather the clump has gradually and moderately increased in diameter. This will be great mixed in the wild garden or with grasses, Queen Anne’s Lace and daylilies, the meadow garden or, indeed, any naturalistic planting. Though we do not know where this variegated form was found the species comes from much of Central and Eastern North America. Established potted goldenrod from division.
