Equisetum scirpoides var. striatum

Dwarf Horsetail

Plant Type:

SHADE PERENNIALS

Equisetum scirpoides var. striatum – 2 sizes: 3.5Deep Pots or hefty Plugs, 5 plugs for $24, 12 sets of 5 plugs available. Dwarf Horsetail Dwarf Scouring Rush. It's a neat almost grass-like plant with jointed stems in dark green. Unlike many of its cousins Dwarf Horsetail is not a plant that once interred will just sprout everywhere in an attempt to colonize at the expense of every other plant in its wake; rather it is densely growing in an expanding clump but with the advantage of being virtually weed proof. It may be utilized in a bog, container or in moist soil at the forefront of the garden in open shade to full sun. Dwarf Horsetail is as deer proof as ferns! Horsetails benefit greatly when silica is amended into the soil - peat and bark based blends have little silica in them; the result: Equisetum languish in these silicon deprived mixes. Equisetum scirpoides var. striatum is neat, cute and will provide good contrasting texture to plants with actual leaves. Dwarf Horsetail is clumping and weed proof. Established potted Horsetail from division.
