Epimedium x 'Patent Assassin' - Flushed mahogany-burgundy spiny leaves above which multitudes of yellow spiders dangle and sway atop wiry stems on a running Barrenwort are the hallmarks of this Issima intro. Leaves are tough and glossed. The plant grows tall exhibiting all the look, feel and habit of 'Ninja Stars' sans the patent. And now comes a sad and truthful anecdote: So, there is now a labeling mess with 'Spine Tingler' and the patented 'Ninja Stars'. Unfortunately, confusion in the nursery trade is nothing new... human error, mistakenly labeled plants, a misdirected memory when a plant label goes missing.
