Agave 'Desert Diamond'

Agave

Plant Type:

BROADLEAF EVERGREEN SHRUBS

Agave 'Desert Diamond' – 'Desert Diamond' is one little beauty. A broad white margin encompasses the green center of each upwardly curved blade. Short spines which occur evenly set along the edges of each fleshy leaf are in a contrasting rich red-brown shade. Forming a gorgeous rounded rosette, indeed a jewel, it will add architectural splendor as a component of any collection be it in container or open garden. Full sun in well-drained fertile soil amended with coarse grit for added drainage. Where it can be grown outdoors this would be fetching among boulders. Agave is one of the plants that causally gives us the pangs and longings of zone envy. But we keep them happy and glorious in a cool greenhouse and set outdoors during the growing season... not quite as fetching as in a planned and contoured landscape but we do what we must! But a containerized grouping of interesting different-sized plants in attractive collected different-sized containers can be an annual art project, instant garden that depending upon the aesthetic whims of the creator can change from year to year. Keep drier in winter. For gardeners towards the northern end of its range spring planting is advised. Established pot grown from offsets.
