Crinum Lily

Plant Type:

SUN PERENNIALS

Crinum x powellii 'Eden' - Purity. A beautiful pristine white Crinum Lily which proudly displays its especially large six-petaled outward facing flowers in late spring and summer flowers on 3-foot stalks. Strap-shaped rich green leaves with a semi-glossed sheen arise and arch over, some tips touch the ground. C. x powellii parentage is C. bulbispermum and C. moorei. Full sun in fertile draining soil. At the more southern end of its range it may be evergreen. In the north it will make a splendid potted plant for the cool greenhouse... I wonder if I can grow this on the south side of our home near the foundation??? Pot grown bulbs.

Having asked the above question, a few years later - as of 6.25.2025 - Will F. sent pictures of one he had planted in USDA zone 5b in Illinois 3 years ago in full glorious bloom. He says, “Crinums are no problem in my alluvial soil. Wet conditions over winter though would probably kill it.”
