SHADE PERENNIALSSpigelia marilandica – Flowers in June or July here in USDA zone 5b emerge with a bright yellow starfish at the mouth of each tubular, narrowly elliptic true red blossom. Each flower is 2” long by up to 1” across at the widest part, tends to be vertical occurring on a terminal raceme, very showy. Indian Pink is late to emerge in spring so be sure to mark the spot in which they are planted. Ours are very content in rich moisture retaining soil sited in some morning sun to open shade. Offered by pot grown cutting or division.
