Nerine masoniorum
Nerine
Plant Type:
BULBSNerine masoniorum (ex: Ellen Hornig) – A dwarf-growing species, Nerine masoniorum carries its pink flowers with crinkled petals closely set atop stems about 6 to 8 inches tall waving in late season breezes above bright green grassy foliage. For us Nerine masoniorum blooms in very late August / September. Part to full sun in fertile, well-drained soil. Winter dry is crucial for many if not most South African bulbs, more so when containerized; nerines are no exception though as a group they are more forgiving than many. As with many of these South African Nerines they are slow to rise during the growing season. Patience. As with all the Nerines we offer summer moisture is a good thing within reason as long as bulbs are planted in a well-draining mix. Drier winter conidtion is advised. The addition of silica when planting may be helpful. We have found all of our Nerine fairly easy-going. Established pot grown bulb from offset or seed. Established pot grown bulb from offset or seed.
