Morus alba 'Nuclear Blast'
White Mulberry
Plant Type:
DECIDUOUS SHRUBSMorus alba ‘Nuclear Blast’ (syn. ‘Itsogumo’) – This dwarf, shrubby form of White Mulberry is a wild-haired tangle of stems and foliage… well, what passes for foliage. The leaves, if you can call them that, are mostly composed of the barest of tissue subtending the central leaf veins. Some of the foliar tissue may irregularly extend a bit broader but this is the exception rather than the rule. The result is a fantastical soft mounding shrub of most unusual texture in a celery green color. Autumn tone is a respectable yellow. We are not entirely certain of its range but have attempted it in three different locations here in USDA zone 5b losing all 3 in three different winters; as such we expect it requires a milder climate than our own. For gardeners towards the northern end of its range spring planting is advised.
Established potted Contorted Mulberry, cutting grown.
From Michael M. (FLA) on 5.8.2013 - Ok Wayne you made me do it..I never write back to people for giving great service but you pushed me over the edge, not only did you reply to me on a Sunday night but it was a very ‘human’ e-mail and on top of that I got my order today!!! How much [can] a customer take!! Keep up the fantastic work, plants look great, even the small Morus but you see I live in S. Florida and summer is on its way so that thing will be taking off soon. Ok enough gushing over your fantastic service,,I am a happy customer, makes me almost want to live further north so I can use more of what you grow..almost. Thanks again Wayne. Good Work!!
Michael, Dude - I'm like blushing.
