Indigofera hebepetala
Indigo
Plant Type:
DECIDUOUS SHRUBSIndigofera hebepetala – The purple-pink wisteria-like flowers in summer are relatively large, about 3” long. Very attractive pinnate leaves are reminiscent of Robinia pseudoacacia (Black Locust). The foliage arches out and away from the stems, weep slightly and provide for a gently soft effect. This inimitable indigofera is a suffruticose shrub sprouting the new stems from last year’s woody growth… In other words, as with tree peonies, it is best not to cut it down to the ground. Indigofera hebepetala is not commonly offered. This True Indigo really should be better known. It has been a surprise to customers who have seen it in bloom at Quackin’ Grass. Site Indigofera hebepetala in full to nearly full sun planted in any draining soil. This fall we are offering extra large plants in our 6-inch round size pot. Cutting grown.
