Arum purpureospathum - The Purple-Spathe Arum . The elongated arrow-shaped leaves begin to emerge in autumn and continue into winter growing approximately 8 inches tall. The petioles often exhibit a red-purple flush. In spring the dark purple spathe and spadix, artistic with a whitish base, rise and unfurl. Another beautiful species, under-utilized and certainly a collector plant for the Arum enthusiast you dark little devils you. Oh! When in flower sniff deep - be aghast, repulsed then run away and breath through your mouths til you reach safe distance. Fertile to average ground that drains. Established potted Arum from seed.
