Alstroemeria x 'Sweet Laura Variegated'

Peruvian Lily

Plant Type:

SUN PERENNIALS

Alstroemeria ‘Sweet Laura Variegated’ (syn. ‘Glory of the Andes’) – This is the variegated foliage form of ‘Sweet Laura’. The gold-edged leaves are lovely on this “Peruvian Lily”. The fragrant golden yellow flowers are touched with orange on the petal reverse and also sport coral anthers and pistil – all in all, very bright and sunny in the summer garden with an extensive bloom period. It clumps quickly in fertile draining soil and does re-flower for us in late season. Clumping. Planting in a basket will foil voles... the little monsters. Beware of fall planting in the northern part of its climate range. Established potted Peruvian Lily via division.

Genus Overview: Alstroemeria

Peruvian Lilies are now being bred with greater hardiness. Our Alstroemerias can be grown in USDA zone 5b if planted in a microclimate or sheltered in winter. All of our Peruvian lilies are perfectly perennial planted along the south foundation of our home where they are bathed in full sun. Presently, two Peruvian Lilies we offer are exclusive to Quackin' Grass Nursery and there may be a third coming... Indeed, 'Indie Star' was spotted as sport variant here while 'Laura's Flame' came to us via Professor Jonathan Lehrer. All are variegated forms and enchanting. Site in full or nearly full sun in any decent garden soil. Our Peruvian Lilies are offered by good old-fashioned perennial division.
