Filipendula camtschatica 'Summer Snow' - this selection of Giant Meadowsweet carries big white fluffs atop 7-foot stems. The soft, irregular cushiony feathers composed of densely-set innumerable florets occur very late spring into summer here in northeastern Connecticut. They appear as windswept cotton candy. This bold and robust perennial with huge lobed leaves completes the picture. Each leafed stem may achieve 18 to 24 inches in width. As this is a colonizing perennial a grand, bold stand will gradually expand in a matter of several years. Neither for the small garden where 'Summer Snow' would command much space nor for the shy gardener as this is a perennial of largess whose forceful stature will demand notice. 'Summer Snow' will be fantastic in the larger perennial garden set in part to full sun in average to fertile draining soil where it will draw butterflies and probably a number of other pollinators as well. Established potted Giant Meadowsweet from division.
