Eupatorium purpureum 'Joe Napoleon'

Joe Pye Weed

Plant Type:

QUACKIN' GRASS INTRODUCTIONS

Eupatorium purpureum 'Joe Napoleon' - A dwarf vibrant purple Joe Pye Weed. Supported on bright red-purple stems mop heads are a full shade darker and deeper than 'Gateway', Joe Napoleon's gigantic sibling. This shorter Joe Pye Weed will grow to four feet in average conditions. 'Joe Napoleon' may grow a few inches taller than four feet in very good soil. A late season bloomer beginning in mid-August here it is an important food source for bee, butterfly and other pollinators. This arose in one of the gardens at Quackin' Grass. Regarding the moniker: no offense intended to short, angry and controlling men... guys - get over it; nobody cares... Yes, you're all that. Hot. Hot. Hot. Tsssssssss. Grrr. Feel better now? Okay okay - I get that that wasn't acceptable... here's the politically correct version: though the moniker refers to a historic figure there is no implication or allusion intended to anyone living or having lived who may dwell nearer to the earth who is not the actual named historic figure. It's all good... Fully to mostly sunny exposure planted in fertile, draining ground that holds some moisture between summer storms. Established potted Joe Pye Weed, cutting grown.
