Persicaria polymorpha - ​Giant Fleeceflower begins producing huge white late spring plumes reminiscent of rhubarb flowers or a giant coarse Astilbe. With an extended bloom period the flowers will continue for many weeks. They are magnificent. Dark green simple matte-finished flame-shaped blades set in opposite fashion from each other on the thick, jointed stalks. The foliage makes a muted if not handsome foil for the flowers but also for perennials planted at its feet. A bold plant, Giant Fleeceflower will make a grand statement in the rear of the larger border, as a filler plant in the sunny hedgerow or even as a specimen if that is your bent.
