Boehmeria platanifolia

Sycamore-leaved False Nettle

Plant Type:

SHADE PERENNIALS

Boehmeria platanifolia (ex: Carlo Borsarini) - The Sycamore-leaved False Nettle displays broad, large and almost rounded green leaves replete with buzz saw serrations sans the metal danger. Mature leaves are bold, they are as large as man's hand and fascinating in form. New leaf centers exhibit a brighter, lighter limey green with all pointy serrations a much darker shade. The two-tone effect is alluring. Late summer white tasseled flowers are long, narrow and in loose groupings jutting forward through the leaves, curiously noteworthy - a casual and effective counterpoint to the later composites, goldenrods and the late daylilies. Shade to half sun... more sun if soils are richer and moisture retentive. Established potted perennial from cutting or division.
