Staphylea bumalda – Bumald Bladdernut. White flowering panicles are 1.5” to 3” in May/June. The curious usually two-sided 1” long and wide seed capsule follows in great numbers. Foliage occurs in threes. Ours originally came from the now sadly defunct Arbor Village; Lanny tells us it’s a “very clean plant”. In the growing pots as fledgling shrubs these are "funny", angular and odd - ugly ducklings. As they continue to branch they grow out of this misfortune. Site in sun planted in fertile soil. Cutting grown.
