Stachys macrantha ‘Superba’ (ex: Hinkley's Heronswood) – The flowering racemes make one heck of a show! Purple-violet tubular flowers in a large raceme arise in late spring on stems from 8” to 12” tall lasting into summer. Its handsome spade-shaped leaves are medium green, handsomely scalloped, wrinkled and hairy and up to 5” diameter. ‘Superba’ is not often seen in North American gardens; it’s a mystery why it is not better known. Site Stachys macrantha ‘Superba’ in full to mostly sunny situations in fertile soil. It will spread relatively quickly into a colony, stunning in bloom, handsome when not. If ordered in autumn these may arrive cut back. Estalbished pot grown plant from division.
