Prunus maritima ‘Nana’ – A more compact growing form of Beach Plum. The glorious white flowers of spring contrasted by dark brown wood covered with lenticels is just plain beautiful. Semi-glossy dark green foliage follows and is handsome throughout the growing season. Purple plums though smaller than the species are more numerous and can be turned into delicious jellies. This is a great coastal denizen and should be in every shorefront planting. The tendency for this shrub is to be multi-stemmed but can be pruned and trained into a single trunk. Site Prunus maritima ‘Nana’ in a full sun to mostly sunny exposure planted in any good garden soil that drains. Cutting grown.
