Hydrangea serrata ‘Preziosa’ (aka 'Pink Beauty') – ​'Preziosa' is a mop head with deep pink domed flowers in summer that age to deep red-pink. As the flowers mature to glowing embers of crimson the foliage becomes infused with a strong red shade for a rich and striking late season show. I first saw ‘Preziosa’ planted in the fronts of homes when I visited Ireland during the month of September some years back. The images are indelibly imprinted on my mind. This cultivar is sometimes listed as ‘Pink Beauty’. On a personal note I fell in love with this older cultivar glowering in the Irish countryside. I fell in love with it as I fell in love with Ireland. For gardeners towards the northern end of its range spring planting is advised.
