Eomecon chionantha – ​This is the Snow Poppy. Atop stems to 12” tall are spade-shaped leaves, 6” long, bold and scalloped – very attractive. The main flush of 2” white gently cupped flowers composed of four petals and a central yellow boss open atop 16” dark red stems. Successive flowering until autumn may occur. Snow Poppy can be a quick and aggressive spreader and, therefore, should be placed with care in context with more demure woodlanders. However, it is easily pulled where unwanted. We recommend planting Eomecon chionantha in the larger naturalistic garden where it may roam among taller, tougher woodland companions. We regret that our climate is a tad too cold for this really cool perennial... although some throw-aways did pop up in the a new garden area this spring. Hmmmmm - makes ya wonder.
