Aster ericoides 'Schneegitter'

Heath Aster

Plant Type:

SUN PERENNIALS

Aster ericoides 'Schneegitter' (syn. Symphyotrichum) – From a basal rosette come stems with fine lances of dark green that grow into a low cusion of about 4 inches but spreading wider. In September and October the flattened mound is completely covered in small white composites like a pool of fluffy snow. Heath Aster draws bees, bee flies, butterflies, skippers and moths. This is a European selection and as of 2023 rare in the U.S. Set this refined and unusual Heath Aster in part shade to full sun planted in moderatly good but draining soil. If your soil is rich amend with plenty of sand. If this Aster goes occasionally dry it may be of benefit; too wet and it will rot. Established potted Heath Aster from cutting.
