Quercus x sternbergii - Sternberg's Oak from Quackin Grass Nursery

Quercus x sternbergii (ex: Will Forster) - An unususal hybrid oak with exceptional autumn color. The cross is Q. shumardii with Q. buckleyii Sternberg Oak's deep rich red is on a par wiith Scarlet Oak except this fine hybrid holds onto the beautiful leaves for an even longer period of time, well into late autumn. There is little info available though I can tell you this hybrid is adaptable and long-lived, is heat and drought tolerant, will tolerate poor soils. It is tough and will make a handsome specimen on a larger property or in a park. Established oak from acorn.
