Chaenomeles speciosa ‘Toyo Nishiki’ – Lovely rich pink flowers gradually fade to apple blossom on this large-flowered, large growing shrub, 7 to 8 feet in 20 years. The display is decidedly two-toned; pink buds open to delicious pink flower with some amorphous white zones. I've had this handsome shrub planted in the landscape for more than 2 decades; so, I figured I'd take some cuttings and see what interest might there be with our customers. Typical quince fruits in mid to late season set among glossy rich green foliage. This form does develop thorns. Site ‘Contorta’ in full to part sun planted in fertile draining soil. All quinces demonstrate some drought tolerance once established. Cutting grown.
