Verbascum thapsus "French Strain" - This monster selection of Great Mullein, an already bold biennial herb, is a French strain selected for largesse and vitality. Also known as Woolly Mullein its silvery gray-green leaves are felted paddles and sometimes display broad undulations. The 2nd year flowers are larger than those seen roadside in eastern Connecticut on stalks that may rise to 8 feet. Note: though biennial plants once planted from the pot in which it/they will arrive an extra, a third year may be required for blossoming. Great Mullein harbors medicinal qualities; flowers can be processed into an oil infusion that is helpful with ear aches; A tea may be steeped for respiratory and bronchial issues.
