Pterostyrax psilophyllus var. leveillei CGG 14114 - Beautiful white panicles on this rare Epaulette Tree can extend to 12 inches. It is not only the flowers that outshine other Pterostyrax species but also the foliage. Leaves form pointed extensions at the ends into 2, 3 and sometimes 4 tips. One might say they are "lobish", more so on some leaves than others. P. psilophyllus is often confused with P. hispidus but they are distinctly different, and different enough that taxonomists have substantiated it deserving its own slot. There also appears to be some confusion about the USDA hardiness which the International Dendrology Society (IDS) indicates USDA zones 5 to 6. This would correspond to the hardiness of its brethren; but please note that we're not clear or certain of this zone determination. Collected in China by the fine folks at Far Reaches Farm. Full to part sun in fertile, draining soil. Established potted Epaulette Tree from cutting.
