Peltandra virginica (ex: Will Forster) - This beautiful New World Arum is found in swampy places. Vertical spikes arise from the plant's crown in spring from 12 to 30 inches in height. Dramatic rich green arrowhead leaves unfurl 8 to as much as 24 inches long, 4 to 10 inches wide. The leaves are evergreen on the Gulf Coast but deciduous inland. The inflorescence may grow as tall as 18 inches sporting a white to cream spadix and a greenish spathe. Green Arrow Arum or Tuckahoe is a highly ornamental native perennial found from Texas, north to Ontario and Quebec, east to Maine and south to Florida. Wet soil in dappled light. Established potted Tuckahoe seed grown or propagated by division.
