Maianthemum canadense - Starry pure white florets on globe-shaped structures erupt in the mid to late spring garden above simple green blades. This pretty elfin woodlander, achieving a maximum height of 6 inches but is usually found at a 2 to 3-inch height, is native to Connecticut woodlands. It spreads by tender milk-white rhizomes into potentially vast, open mats that in no way damage or strangle other garden denizens; rather, garden neighbors will simply grow through, up and over the mat displacing it. Canada Mayflower's range is broad, encompassing all states from Maine south to Georgia, cutting diagonally north and west to Montana plus nearly all of Canada. Very sweet, unimposing but makes a lovely carpet. Woodland conditions with open shade to dappled and early morning / late day sun exposure. Established pot by division.
