Cotinus coggygria 'Golden Spirit' - This golden-leaved form of Smoke Bush illuminates the landscape. Newly emergent foliage is flame. Upon expansion foliage quickly grows mellow yellow. The entirety of the shrub is a gentle yellow hue well into July. In full sun the bright yellow outer leaves remain a tracing above the more shaded leaves which eventually cool to a light bright green to chartreuse. All transform at the finish of the growing season with a flourish of gold, red and orange as the days shorten and cool. Late June and July cotton candy inflorescence balloon with a bare touch of pink. They are large and plentiful shifting to a soft buff tint as they age. Plant it as a specimen. It is especially useful as a texture / color component in a grand mixed planting in contrast to denizens. 'Golden Spirit' can be cut back to make a shorter dense bush. This fine introduction comes to us from the Netherlands. Plant 'Golden Spirit' in full sun in average to fertile, draining ground.
