Eucomis comosa 'Peace Candles' - A lovely white Pineapple Lily with a pleasant scent. Though the overall color is white, each floret has a central violet-purple pistil surrounded by yellow anthers. Each raceme can grow as tall as 24 inches in summer. Flowers are a draw to all manner of flying pollinators, those armored with exoskeletons and wings of cellophane though I wouldn't be surprised to see the occasional hummingbird approach. En masse the spires rising from fleshy green straps will make a beautiful patch in the garden where they can be grown outdoors. 'Peace Candles' will make a strong contrast to other associated garden denizens. Up north it's easily grown in a container. Just bring it into the basement for the winter and keep it dry; other than the lugging it's no fuss. Full sun in fertile, draining soil. Established Eucomis comosa from division. Peace out.
