Rubus parvifolius 'Lemon Lace'

Small-leaf Bramble

Plant Type:

DECIDUOUS SHRUBS

Rubus parvifolius 'Lemon Lace' (ex: Carlo Borsarini) - An eye popping gold-leaved bramble which is, no doubt, a selection of 'Ogon'; indeed, the moniker 'Lemon Lace' may simply be a renaming of the gold-leaf form. New growth is brilliant yellow settling back at maturity to bright lime upon arching canes. The Small-leaf Bramble or Australian Raspberry flowers pink in May / June. Summer fruits are attractive jewel-like red raspberries, an edible treat for birds. Treat it with respect as this is a fully-armed bramble and let go will form tangled thickets. Fully to mostly sunny exposure in average to fertile, draining soil. Native to Australia it has naturalized in Japan. For gardeners towards the northern end of its range spring planting is advised. Established pot grown shrub either from offset, layering or cutting.
