Chaemaecyparis obtusa 'Filicoides ' – ​We love this particular form for 2 reasons: 1) the foliage is fern-like on long stems creating an unusual texture; 2) the foliage is a very rich, deep dark green which whimsically makes us feel the heart of a faraway forest. 'Filicoides' is columnar as a young shrub gradually increasing its girth with age... not unlike too many of us! It really is beautiful. Morgan, our helper, is enamored of 'Filicoides' and uses it regularly in plantings for his personal customers. We love it, too. Fertile, moist soil in full sun to part shade. Established potted shrub, cutting grown.
