Sauromatum venosum 'Indian Giant' (syn. Typhonium venosum) - A tall, open red-purple arum flower jungle-spotted in chartreuse to spring green with a lurid black-purple tongue rising up from the bulbous base of the flower. Flowers erupt in winter / early spring. Enormous leaves up to 40 inches in diameter are reminiscent of those of a giant Arisaema triphyllum, very tropical looking and bold. Leaf stalks display large black-purple spots for additional tropical, jungle shadows affect... as if Sauromatum venosum would require it! 'Indian Giant' will be a spectacular curiosity planted in fertile, moist soil set in shade, part to dappled to sun. Sauromatum venosum 'Indian Giant' will tolerate clay.
