Nerine laticoma

Nerine

Plant Type:

BULBS

Nerine laticoma (ex: Ellen Hornig) – Late summer / fall bloom here, the pink and sometimes white flowers occur atop inflorescences 6 to 12 inches tall on this shorter species. Petals sport a darker mid-vein setting-off each dome of pink, demanding a bit more notice. Nerine laticoma is found on the Northern Cape, western Transvaal, Free State, inland Namibia and Botswana. As with all the Nerines we offer summer moisture is a good thing within reason as long as bulbs are planted in a well-draining mix. Drier winter conidtion is advised. The addition of silica when planting may be helpful. We have found all of our Nerine fairly easy-going. Established pot grown bulb from offset or seed.

An update from Andrew S. on 5.26.2025: "I took a gamble and I planted the bulbs from you against my south facing wall in zone 7b and they are wonderful. They are under my soffit so they get almost no moisture in the winter…and while maybe there was snow this past winter, it doesn’t last long. I mulched them good and they’ve survived 2 winters now. Lovely bloom on 1 last summer."
