Agave americana 'Medio-picta Alba'

Agave

Plant Type:

ARID LAND PLANTS

Agave americana 'Medio-picta Alba' (ex: Ellen Hornig) – Broad blue margins encompass a cool, creamy milk-white interior on this exceptionally beautiful Agave, among our favorites of the variegated forms we carry. Full sun in fertile, gritty draining soil. Makes a striking potted plant in northern climes. The species is from Mexico; as to where this exceptional variegated form may have been found or developed we do not know. Keep it drier in winter. Oh, were it that we in northeastern Connecticut could safely grow these outdoors. We are surprised that the agaves don't seem of greater interest to gardeners where they can be grown outdoors. Dudes??? For gardeners towards the northern end of its range spring planting is advised. Established pot grown offsets.
