Aronia arbutifolia 'Brilliantissima' – Brilliant Red Chokeberry produces massive quantities of clutered white flowers in spring. The semi-glossy green leaves remain clean and attractive all summer. The autumn show is brilliant to say the least; the green leaves of summer take on striking scarlet shades as the green berries turn glossy, bright red. They persist after the autumn leaves fall to ground below. Often the berries remain on the shrub well into winter and become treats for a number of species birds once bletted. Though not uncommon, this worthy shrub is very useful in the landscape, natural situations, screening, at woodland's edge, as a replacement for Euonymus alatus where it is a weed problem. Brilliant Red Chokeberry is a large growing shrub that eventually colonizes. Best in full sun to part shade planted in fertile, well-drained ground. Established potted Red Chokeberry, cutting grown.
