Haemanthus albiflorus (syn. albiflos)

Paint Brush

Plant Type:

TENDER PERENNIALS

Haemanthus albiflorus (syn. albiflos) - This is another really cool African bulb in the Amaryllidaceae with broad tongues of leaves and fleshy flowering stems topped with large, fat white brushes with a heavy speckling of yellow anthers. Paintbrush, one of its common names, will make a good greenhouse or windowsill candidate in an east exposure. Grow it tight - Paintbrush is especially handsome in a clay pot. The broad tongues of leaves are evergreen and quite handsome - very nice in the ground - creating a tropical looking ground cover of bold leaves over time where it can be grown outdoors. Let it go relatively dry between waterings. Established pot grown bulb(s).
