Ligustrum ovalifolium 'Lemon and Lime'
California Privet
Plant Type:
DECIDUOUS SHRUBSLigustrum ovalifolium ‘Lemon and Lime’ (ex: Jonathan Lehrer) – The foliage is green with a golden green margin on this cultivar of California Privet. Flowers occur in June/July on stiff packed panicles 2” to 4” long and wide followed by shiny black fruits. This is another very handsome utilitarian shrub for screening or in a mixed hedgerow that will thrive on neglect. L. ovalifolium originates from Japan. It is semi-evergreen in more southerly locales, more deciduous in the northern end of its range. ‘Lemon and Lime’ is amenable to pruning. This privet may be problematic in the south. Please consider alternatives if this plant might be a problem in your area. Cutting grown.
