Hibiscus paramutabilis x syriacus ‘Lohengrin’ – ​'Lohengrin' is a gorgeous shrub or small tree with loads of large white flowers with a dark red-purple eye for many weeks in summer. The foliage is relatively large as compared to H. syriacus, attractive and satiny dark green sometimes turning a nice yellow in autumn. Professor Jonathan Lehrer and I, when visiting Nick Nickou’s legendary garden in Branford, Connecticut, were dumb struck and entranced as we stepped from my car and gazed upon his specimen behind the fence at the frontage of his property; it is enchantingly beautiful. This is a Jim Snyder hybrid. Site ‘Lohengrin’ in plenty of sun planted in fertile soil. In the north spring planting is strongly advised. Cutting grown.
