Drimiopsis kirkii (ex: Jonathan Lehrer; tentatively identified, this genus is taxonomically confused) – This is a distinctive South African bulb with rosettes of light green to silvery green lance-shaped leaves irregularly and densely dotted with darker green to green-brown spots – very attractive. Giant Squill sports narrow spikes of white flowers somewhat freely. The flower spikes betray its family: Hyacinthaceae. This is a tender plant appropriate in the greenhouse, on a partly sunny windowsill or planted in the subtropical garden.If purchased in autumn where it can be planted outdoors it would be wise to hold indoors until spring. Slow spread. Keep it drier in winter. Multiple potted bulbs.
