Bellis perennis

English Daisy

Plant Type:

SUN PERENNIALS

Bellis perennis - This is the species English Daisy with fresh two-inch white single daisies with a yellow button central disc. It flowers for a very long period usually in the summer months. English Daisy spreads by underground rhizomes and in time will create a pool or a patch of flat-to-the-ground spoon-shaped leaves. Where it takes hold it takes hold with gusto. Plant it as an element in the lawn for a "climax lawn" (one that has mixed flowering species. Other climax lawn denizens may include violets, bluets, dandelions, prunella, crocus, allium) - sorry you perfecto lawn freaks. Good front-of-the-border plant or in the rock garden and can be used as an edger, too. Average to fertile, draining soil in sun to part shade. Established Bellis perennis from seed or division.
