Arundo donax 'Golden Chain'

Giant Reed Grass

Plant Type:

GRASSES & GRASS-LIKE PLANTS

Arundo donax 'Golden Chain' (ex: Louis Raymond) - This warm yellow and green variegated Giant Reed Grass will grace the garden with casual splendor. 'Golden Chain' will hold its variegation all through the growing season. Somewhat less vigorous than the species it will remain smaller rising to about 7 feet. As with 'Peppermint Stick' it is crown hardy a bit colder than most sources indicate. 'Peppermint Stick' has been crown hardy for us in northeastern Connecticut sprouting again annually - just don't anticipate the inflorescence though forty miles south on the coast it will flower. 'Golden Chain' is a selection made in the United Kingdom, a tissue-cultured sport which arose at Madrona Nursery by Liam MacKenzie. Established potted Giant Reed Grass from division.
